In short
MILEPROOF Nipple Guards are thin adhesive covers that distance runners put over their nipples before a run. The shirt slides over the guard instead of rubbing the skin, which helps reduce the chafing behind runner's nipple (painful, sometimes bleeding skin) on long runs and races.
Where to buy: MILEPROOF Nipple Guards for Runners will be sold on Amazon US and TikTok Shop US from January 2027. It is not sold on this website.
What are nipple guards and how do they work?
Runner's nipple (jogger's nipple) happens when a shirt rubs the nipple thousands of times over a long run. In a small study of road runners, it was much more common in those running more than 40 miles (64 km) a week.
MILEPROOF Nipple Guards are thin, round covers with a smooth outer face. The shirt slides over the guard instead of rubbing the skin.
They're low-profile under a race shirt or singlet and designed to peel off gently.
How do you put on nipple guards?
- Apply to clean, dry skin before you put on your shirt. Skip lotion and lubricant on that area.
- Center the guard over the nipple and press the edge all the way around.
- After the run, peel slowly from one edge. Warm water or a shower loosens the adhesive.
Quality: tested side by side with leading competitors for hold through sweat and rain, low profile, gentle removal. How we test.

Questions
Nipple covers or nipple guards: what's the difference?
Nothing, in practice. Runners use both names for thin adhesive covers that protect the nipples from shirt friction on long runs.
Do women need nipple guards?
Chafing is less common with a well-fitted sports bra, but some women use guards when a bra seam or a crop top rubs. They work the same way.
Nipple guards vs. tape vs. petroleum jelly: which is best?
Guards and skin-safe tape put a physical layer between shirt and skin; lubricant is quickest but may need reapplying in long or wet races. See the comparison in our runner's nipple guide.
Will they come off in the rain?
They are made for sweat and rain, but always apply to completely dry skin first, which is what decides how well any adhesive holds.
